A ten-part culinary series shot through Dubai’s kitchens, markets and back-street eateries — none of them rooms anyone gets to quieten. Production sound across nine of the ten, recorded live in the noise the show is actually about.
A film that cuts between a white laboratory and the rooms a heritage actually lives in — a majlis, a falcon, a horse in the dark. The voice was recorded at MNK Studios in Dubai, then every effect in the film built around it, and the mix and master to finish. Two worlds that have to end up sounding like one place.
A watch film cut between architecture and a voice. The music came supplied, so the work was sitting it under the narration — close enough to carry the film, far enough back that the voice never has to fight for the front — then every effect in it, then the mix and the master.
The picture was locked before any of this existed. Nothing was recut to fit the track — the music was written to an edit already decided, so every hit had to be found rather than arranged for. Then the effects, the mix and the master.
Cars lit against coloured panels in a blacked-out studio, cut fast. The weight had to come from design rather than engine noise, and sit low enough that the picture keeps the room.
A tenth-anniversary film for a fine jewellery house, shot through mashrabiya light. Score, effects and mix all written for it, and the work was deciding how little to put in — at this pace the silence is the main material.
Vertical, shot on location, and carried the whole way by one voice to camera. Sound recorded on set and the dialogue cleaned in post — on a piece with nothing else holding it up, the captions should be a courtesy rather than a necessity.
The same series, a different room and a different voice. Recorded on set, cleaned in post, and cut to run in a feed where most people meet it without sound at all.
Her house, walked room by room, which means one voice recorded in a dozen different acoustics — marble, glass, wood, stairwell — and cut together as though it were all one room. Recorded on location, then cleaned, mixed and mastered.
An interview series recorded in the room, which is where a podcast is won or lost — several voices, several microphones, one shared space and no second take. Then the vocal cleanup, the mix and the master. The episode here is “Talent vs Loyalty”, twenty-six minutes of it.
Forty-five seconds of animation walking through how to get a caravan permit for the beach — a laptop on the sand, forms flying into folders, a wave that wipes the frame. Animation arrives silent, so nothing in it comes for free: every click, pop and swoosh was built from nothing, then the music, the mix and the master.

Born in Russia, raised in Ireland, six years in Dubai. The guitar came first, at thirteen — the Gipsy Kings, then Steve Vai, then the Candyrat players, Andy McKee and Sergio Altamura, who made one acoustic guitar sound like a band. Singing at fifteen; producing at seventeen, on FL Studio, and since then on every major DAW there is.
Three years at SAE Institute Dubai, finished with the highest GPA. The rest of the apprenticeship was thirty-odd songs of my own — indie, hip hop, R&B — now being finished for release. That is not a hobby beside the post-production; it is why score, design, mix and master are all one ear here.
Directors get me at the locked cut, which is where I prefer to start. Before that, I want the conversation about what a scene should make someone feel — the cut tells me where, the director tells me why.
Sound is the half of a film nobody praises and everybody notices. When it is wrong, the audience does not say the mix was wrong — they say the scene did not work. I would rather they said nothing.
